Europe Considers Sanctions on Israel

Eagle Intelligence Reports • July 15, 2025 •

Foreign ministers of the European Union are meeting today, Tuesday, to discuss a range of potential actions against Israel for its alleged human rights violations in the Gaza Strip. The list of 10 possible sanctions on Israel includes suspension of visa-free travel, freezing of preferential trade benefits, and excluding Israel from research and student exchange programs in Europe, among others. The sanctions are aimed at improving the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
The EU has found Israel in violation of the human rights clause of the EU-Israel Association Agreement, which forms the legal basis of the relationship between the two sides.
Last week, the EU struck a deal with Israel to increase the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said, “We see positive signs of the fulfilment of that understanding, but we need to see more, that is very clear.”
