On Thursday, Chinese authorities summoned US technology giant Nvidia to discuss security issues involving a version of its artificial intelligence (AI) chips.Last month, Nvidia secured approval from the US administration to sell its advanced “H20″ chips to China. In a statement, the Cyberspace Administration of China said, “Recently, serious security concerns have emerged regarding Nvidia’s computing chips.” Previously, US lawmakers called for advanced chips exported from the US to be equipped with tracing and location capabilities. US AI experts revealed that Nvidia’s computing chips have mature tracking, location, and remote shutdown technologies. The CAC has called Nvidia representatives to explain the backdoor security risks associated with vulnerabilities in the H20 chips sold to China. (Agencies)
